Jalang’o has stirred debate with his remarks about the leadership of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).
In a recent statement, Jalang’o said:
“Catherine Omanyo ndiye SG wa ODM, hata huyo Sifuna hakuna mtu alimpigia kura ndio akuwe SG wa ODM, he did a takeover.”
His comments refer to Catherine Omanyo’s position as Secretary General of ODM, contrasting it with that of Edwin Sifuna. Jalang’o implied that Sifuna assumed the role without a formal vote, characterizing it as a “takeover” rather than a democratic election within the party.
The statement has sparked conversations among political observers and party supporters, raising questions about internal party processes, transparency, and the legitimacy of leadership appointments. While some supporters of Jalang’o’s view argue that the remarks highlight real concerns about party democracy, others see them as an opinionated commentary on ongoing power dynamics within ODM.
Overall, the remarks underscore the scrutiny and debate that often accompany leadership positions in Kenya’s major political parties, where internal decisions and appointments can have wider implications for party cohesion and public perception.
