Gatundu North MP Njoroge Kururia has sparked sharp reactions after launching a scathing attack on former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, popularly referred to as “Wamunyoro.”
In his remarks, Kururia dismissed Gachagua’s credibility, warning the Mt. Kenya region—often called the “Mlima” community—against trusting him again ahead of the 2027 elections. He accused the former deputy president of misleading voters during the 2022 General Election and attempting to do the same once more as the next political cycle approaches.
The legislator used strong language to emphasize his point, suggesting that trusting Gachagua would be a repeated mistake. He likened such trust to being deceived twice by the same person, arguing that voters should learn from past experiences and make more cautious political decisions moving forward.
His comments come at a time when political realignments are already taking shape, with leaders positioning themselves and their allies for influence in the 2027 race. The Mt. Kenya region remains a key political battleground, making statements like Kururia’s significant in shaping public opinion and loyalty.
While such rhetoric reflects the intensity of Kenya’s political landscape, it also highlights the growing divisions among leaders who were once aligned. As the country edges closer to another election cycle, debates over trust, leadership, and past promises are expected to dominate the conversation.
